Four plays about fascism
The Between Lands project, led by the TNC, establishes synergies between the participating European theatres: KVS (Brussels), Comédie de Reims (Reims), Teatro Nacional Sâo Joâo (Porto) and the Emilia Romagna Teatro (Bologna, Modena and Ferrara).
To continue promoting contemporary playwriting and have an impact on different communities, the TDDAY (Theatre Democracy Day) is held every year.
For four seasons and in writing residencies organised each year by one of the member theatres, TDDAY brings together playwrights of different nationalities to work on themes such as colonisation, adolescence, gender violence and people without documents.
This season the theme is the fascism. The objective is to write short plays, 15 minutes long, that will form part of a group piece that will be performed in the different theatres of the Between Lands project.
In addition, the plays − translated into Flemish, French, Catalan, Italian, Portuguese and English − will form part of the Library of Democracy, which will be accessible and open to all.
93 metres d’eslora by Denise Duncan (TNC)
Outdefining by Francesca Lancelotti (ERT)
La mer monte by Gurshad Shaheman (Comédie de Reims)
Rexit by Stuer, Dhaenens&Vanden Broecke (KVS)
