Moro com a país
Dimitris Dimitriadis
With implacable brutality, a woman’s voice describes the human and cultural devastation of a country that now only serves to destroy its own members with useless battles, without offering any new fertile terrain where it is possible to develop identities that can find a raison d’être in the community. Moro com a país, whose original title is Je meurs comme un pays, prophesises the end of a way of understanding each other historically and anthropologically, through a body that personifies the sterility of a cultural and political heritage that only suffocates its children. Dimitris Dimitriadis was born in Thessalonica in 1944, and in 2009 the Théâtre Odéon in Paris invited him to be the leading playwright of the season. Since Moro com a país was written, the text has been the object of numerous productions which have placed it among the most important texts of the second half of the 20th century.
