Bovary

Bovary

Our love for Emma Roualt has now led us to turn her into an opera

Who was Emma Roualt and who could she be today? What overwhelming emptiness leads her to despair?

Bovary continues to fascinate us and speak to our imagination. That's why, after making the theatrical version that was seen at the TNC (and after touring Europe), Michael De Cock and Carme Portaceli continue the search for Bovary's soul and turn Flaubert's classic into an opera.

In this contemporary opera version, we see an even more lonely Emma. All alone in front of a choir of singers who watch her, judge her and condemn her. But she will continue to fight to make her voice heard.

An opera with music by Belgian composer Harold Noben performed live by the ESMUC symphony orchestra.
