The circus version of Otel·lo and the female gaze of Desdèmona

We've all heard of Shakespeare's Othello, but in what new ways can this Shakespearean story be told?

Alba Sarraute & Les Ofèlies use the circus, acrobatics, music and the body to create a set of images full of poetry and tell Othello’s story from Desdemona’s point of view.

An immersion in the most dramatic aspects of the human condition... with a smile on the lips.

Our company presents this Shakespeare classic through circus, making it more accessible and visual. We tell the story travelling through the most representative parts of the text, respecting the original version, and we respond to it to give it a current twist.
Live music, dance, hand-to-hand acrobatics, Chinese pole, balance ladder, knives, wheels, puppets and masks turn the piece into an explosion of surprises and images.
