La corona d'espines
Violence against women's bodies, fatherhood and the possibility of redemption combine in this wonderful score of verses by Josep Maria de Sagarra
La corona d’espines, a verse play by Josep Maria de Sagarra, directed by Xavier Albertí, revives and rediscovers one of the great plays of Catalan theatre heritage.
Set in Solsona in the late 18th century, the play narrates the entanglements of a marriage agreement between a pubilla and a young man without parents, where money needs and suspicions are mixed up.
Honour, power, impossible love and social hypocrisy in a tragedy that becomes a critique of the society of the time.
