La dona del tinent francès (1981)
Directed by: Karel Reisz
Harold Pinter had close ties with the seventh art. As well as working as an actor, he wrote over twenty scripts, including original texts and adaptations of both his own plays and other material. The Filmoteca de Catalunya will approach the British playwright’s work by programming The French Lieutenant’s Woman, a film directed by Karel Reisz starring Meryl Streep and Jeremy Irons, for which Pinter adapted John Fowles’ eponymous novel for the big screen.
As in his theatre, in this film Pinter develops a labyrinth of emotional and temporal ambiguities that blur the lines between reality and fiction.
After the film screening there will be a talk with members of the artistic team of the production of No Man’s Land.
