When the Great Helmsman orders the extermination of the sparrows in the country because they are eating the grain, a girl, Ming Li, decides to go against him and follow her heart.
Based on Sara Pennypacker’s story, Teatre al detall presents this live music show by La Tresca i la Verdesca.
Based on a historical event: in 1958 Mao Zedong declared THE SPARROW WAR and caused the practical extinction of these birds in China. The consequences were devastating: there were no birds to eat the insects, and plagues ravaged the crops, causing the death by starvation of between 30 and 40 million Chinese people.
