The great popularity of Tennessee Williams’ theatre often led to adaptations of his work for the big screen, which enhanced the playwright’s recognition and helped make him an icon of a worldwide mass audiovisual culture.

Daniel Mann directed the film adaptation of The Rose Tattoo, which premiered in 1955 starring Anna Magnani and Burt Lancaster. Coinciding with the TNC’s production of Williams’ play, the Filmoteca offers the chance to revisit this classic of universal cinema on the big screen.
