Rei i senyor
Josep Pous i Pagès
TheatreFamily and abuse of authority Coinciding with the centenary of the publication of one of the great novels of the Catalan cultural movement known as Modernisme, La vida i la mort d’en Jordi Fraginals (1912), by Josep Pous i Pagès, the TNC revives Rei i senyor, a fascinating work unknown to the general public not performed since 1918. The story takes place in an early 20th century family house and explores the conflict between Andreu Reixac, a landlord used to being in control rightly or wrongly, and his daughter Remei, who dares to defy paternal authority when her father obliges her to break her engagement to her lover. Rei i senyor continues the process of reviving little known plays from the Catalan theatre tradition.
