Sombreros
Philippe Decouflé
Dance and poetry Philippe Decouflé returns to the TNC with the DCA Company. Trained with artists of the standing of Marcel Marceau, Decouflé is a Utopian in the era of video art who has established himself as one of the great innovators of contemporary dance, placing it in the context of multimedia art. All this can be clearly seen in his new creation, Sombreros, a title with a double meaning: apart from its meaning in Spanish, its pronunciation in French refers to sombre héros, to sombre heroes. A tribute to the world of cinema. Sombreros is the story of François and Françoise and their journey to Mexico, which serves as a pretext to show us a series of frescoes replete with poetry and humour with an element of absurdity. A journey to Decouflé’s world of fantasy, full of images of great beauty, which allow us to see how dancers multiply, on several levels, on the stage. The references to cinema are constant in this dance production which evolves day after day thanks to its touch of improvisation.
