Tebas Land – winner of the prestigious London Award Off West End in 2017 – is based on the different meetings in prison between a young parricide and a playwright who tries to reconstruct the story of the crime to focus on the theatrical portrayal of these meetings. Although the question that opens the piece is “how can you kill someone?” the question that will close it will be “how can you portray someone?”

Sergio Blanco thus avoids the ethical dimension of parricide to reflect on the aesthetic possibilities of drama. The playwright resumes the Oedipus myth to question the artistic process of theatre authorship. When do you start writing or committing parricide? What are the concomitances between crime and writing?
