An intimate and illuminating dialogue between flamenco and guitar


Malaga-born bailaora Rocío Molina presents an exploration of the guitar and its relationship with flamenco. A trilogy that travels to the origins of flamenco to rebuild it.


The triad begins with Inicio (Uno), which revolves around the exclusive guitar playing of the master Riqueni; it continues with Al fondo riela (Lo Otro del Uno), where Yerai Cortés and Eduardo Trassierra enter into an exploratory dialogue on the polyphonic possibilities of the instrument, incorporating the contrapuntal, harmonic and rhythmic resources that the duet permits; and culminates with Vuelta a Uno, with a body-to-body dialogue with the guitar of Yerai Cortés.

Rocío Molina’s work has received the National Dance Award 2010, two Max awards and the Silver Lion Award for Dance 2022 at the Venice Biennale, among others.

Trilogía sobre la guitarra deals with the origin of and the impulse to dance. A triangulated experience on the correlation of guitar and movement, introducing us to the consequences of the identity of each guitarist in body and gesture. A triad that undoes the path of tradition to retrace it and recover the pure creative act that lies in its essence.

Achieving this goal in the performance requires rediscovering uniqueness in a space always to be explored. Silencing noise to recover sound, silencing everything we know so that the movement resurfaces with authenticity, emptying it of artifice so that the essential regains the power to fill, forgetting what has been learned to remember the present.
