Verse after verse
How a poem beats
Metrics has technical functions closely linked to a play’s reception in the theatre, especially in terms of classical texts. Getting the youngest audiences to develop a good understanding of metrics will create more demanding future theatre-goers, make them aware of the beauty of words and bring them closer to theatre. Therefore, the project Verse after Verse was born with the aim of providing the instruments for them to familiarise themselves with the internal mechanisms of a poem and better connect with the most intimate beats of poetry.
An actor will accompany children and youths on an approach to a specific poem ‒ context, metrics, structure... ‒ emphasising the strong symbolic value generated by poetry and carefully listening to the musicality of our language.
