365 Dones l'any

We revive the figure of Remedios Varo and celebrate her legacy

Remedios Varo was a surrealist painter noted for her ability to integrate science, magic, and mysticism into imaginary worlds full of symbolism. Her work is important for her feminine and introspective vision with a unique detailed and dreamlike aesthetic.

Playwright Eu Manzanares has conducted research on this Catalan painter who settled in Mexico, which will culminate in a dramatized reading of the text La Reme i jo, directed by Aina Tur.

What is “365 Dones l’any”?

The cycle “365 Dones l’any” rescues from oblivion important women overshadowed through history.
After four editions on Aurora Bertrana, Anna Maria Martínez Sagi, Marina Ginestà and Margarida Rugall, respectively, this year’s focus is on visual artist Remedios Varo.

The dramatized reading, which takes place at El Born. Museu d’Història de Barcelona, is followed by versions performed by in around thirty amateur theatre companies all over Catalonia. Thanks to their commitment, the show continues to travel and support a project that grows year after year.
