Open preselection for a project at the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya
OPEN PRESELECTION for a project in the Sala Petita of the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya for the 2026-2027 Season.
Concept and direction: Nuria Legarda
This show is a co-production of Vania, Nuria Legarda and the TNC.
Audition:
We are seeking 3 actress-dancers:
- One between 18 and 25 years old, (Teenage Daughter) with versatility and solid skills in theatrical performance, contemporary dance, and movement.
- For the character of the daughter, as a teenager.
- One between 36 and 42 years old, (Older Daughter) with versatility and solid skills in theatrical performance, contemporary dance, and movement.
- For the character of the daughter in her maturity.
- One between 52 and 57 years old, (Mother) with mastery of theatrical performance and proficiency in movement, with knowledge of contemporary dance.
- For the character of the mother.
Rehearsals and Performances 2027:
Rehearsals will be from January 25th to March 3rd.*
March 4th premiere.
Performances until March 21st.
*Two additional weeks of rehearsals remain to be scheduled, which will take place in the weeks prior to the start date of January 25th. Likely in the second half of 2026.
Project Description:
It is the fragmented story of a domestic life marked by violence.
A theatrical piece that emerges at the intersection of movement, text, and image to generate an embodied experience of fear, turbulence, submission, and/or rebellion, in a claustrophobic world defined by the relationships of a broken family.
The audience will see an inhabited house, where family bonds unfold in all their emotional and physical complexity.
They will observe relationships, their tensions and affections, through a staging that combines direct representation—conversations, actions, presences—with a poetic dimension that provides access to the intimate thoughts of the bodies that inhabit it.
The symbolic and the concrete coexist, generating an experience where reality is amplified through the sensory.
Director's Notes:
As a creator, I conceive the body as a territory of origin, a creative source, and an archive of memory.
It is also where violences are inscribed—visible and invisible, personal and generational, individual and collective.
These impulses, born from learned and normalized structures, share a common root and leave a profound cost, often sustained in silence.
That is why I consider it essential to make these silenced violences visible, as they shape identity, condition life experience, and can contribute to generating new spaces for collaboration and transformation.
Abuse ranges from the blow to contempt: a broad spectrum that we too often tend to minimize or evade.
In this piece, I'm interested in addressing domestic violence through the subtlety of the stinging aftermath that remains after the blow: this haze that persists long beyond the instant of adrenaline that numbs feeling, and that adheres not only to the body, but also to the soul.
If as a society we want to evolve, we have the responsibility to give voice to the childhood survivors of domestic abuse, and to confront and repair the physical and emotional suffering experienced at the hands of adults.
This also involves committing to the education we did not receive and that we must now build ourselves. Nuria Legarda

AUDITIONS AND FINAL SELECTION
From 15 December 2025, selected candidates will be contacted for the in-person audition.
Auditions will be held in Barcelona, at the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, on 8 and 9 January 2026. The audition schedule is yet to be confirmed.
The results of the final audition will be announced in the following days.
