El perro del hortelano
- Lope de Vega
- Sala Gran
- 14/12/17 al 07/01/18
Lope de Vega's greatest comedy about desire and freedom in an energetic and brilliant staging.
Helena Pimenta directs this comedy written between 1613 and 1618, at the height of Lope de Vega's creative maturity, which portrays the amorous comings and goings of Countess Diana and her secretary Teodoro, a relationship prohibited by the rigidity of social hierarchies.
This conflict between the desire for freedom and the bonds imposed by destiny will only be resolved when the force of wit helps love to triumph, which Lope de Vega understands as the great universal leveller that enables the apparently more solid social barriers to be pulled down.
