La madre de Frankenstein

Almudena Grandes

A portrait of a country that is more Catholic than Catholics and that it always has the reason

She played God and raised her daughter Hildegart as a model of what "the woman of the future" should be. Well educated since childhood, the girl was a precocious reader and writer, politically active, and became the youngest lawyer in Spain. But her "creation" rebelled against her, and Aurora Rodríguez Carballeira decided to kill her daughter.

Carme Portaceli and Anna Maria Ricart adapt Almudena Grandes’ La madre de Frankenstein, a novel set in the Spanish post-war period that covers Aurora’s final years in a mental institution.
