La Rambla de les Floristes
- Josep Maria de Sagarra
- Direction Jordi Prat i Coll
- Sala Gran
- 10/10/19 al 24/11/19
A portrait of the Catalan society from one of its greatest symbols: the Rambla of Barcelona
The multiple facets of the kaleidoscopic Barcelona reality parade along the Rambla de les Flors with complete promiscuity. A privileged witness of the political turmoil and the most intimate vibrations, Antònia’s stall offers fragrances and colours to everyone who visits it while remaining loyal to the avenue that saw it grow. And today, eight decades after Josep Maria de Sagarra wrote his ode to the most emblematic street in Barcelona, La Rambla continues to be the backbone of the confluences of our reality.
A classic play of Catalan drama in which the political upheavals of two key moments of our recent history resonate: it was premiered in March 1935, months after the proclamation of the Catalan State by President Lluís Companys, and it is set shortly before the 1868 Glorious Revolution, which marked the end of three decades of the reign of Isabel II.
