Maria Magdalena

Maria Magdalena

Don't let them erase us from History

Miriam, a teacher, travels from Brussels to Barcelona to do a lecture on Mary Magdalene. She leaves her young daughter behind and makes the important decision to divorce her husband. When she arrives at Barcelona airport, the taxi driver waiting for her says he is Jesus.

After Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway and Flaubert's Madame Bovary, Carme Portaceli and Michael De Cock focus on the character of Mary Magdalene, the greatest symbol – by far – of women erased. They give her the importance she deserves, and that so many other women deserve, turning this biblical story into a magical one.
