Primera Sangre

Can innocence be killed?

Primera sangre tells the true story of a girl kidnapped and murdered during the 1990s, whose case was never resolved.

Halfway between memorial and document, thriller and ghost story, this auto-fiction that makes us reflect on the childhood abuse etched on women's bodies.

Through lyricism (poetry as the key) and resoluteness, Primera sangre invites us to revive the memory of those who are no longer here to multiply our existence.

Winner of the XXXI Premio SGAE de Teatro Jardiel Poncela 2022 and the Premio Nacional de Literatura Dramática 2024.

**“If the enemy wins – wrote Walter Benjamin – not even the dead will be safe. And the enemy has not stopped winning.” The dead women have never been safe; they have never been safe under patriarchal logic. In the play First Blood there are two types of blood: that of a murder (infanticide, femicide) and that of menstruation (or development).

The plot is inspired by the homicide of a young girl in the 1990s and its impact on the girls in the victim’s surroundings; how will their relationship with fear, recklessness, and (sexual) freedom be shaped?

The victim returns to the stage as a ghost and/or fantasy, because theatre allows us to see what is otherwise impossible. The old medical manuals used to say Mortui vivos docent: “the dead teach the living.”**
