La nit més freda (veus a l'exili)
Based on texts by Joan Oliver, Carles Riba, Mercè Rodoreda and Antoni Rovira i Virgili
Theatre On 26th January 2009 seventy years will have passed since Franco’s troops entered Barcelona. A few days before, in a misgoverned city, an avalanche of anonymous people, the main political and cultural leaders and the army in withdrawal, left the city and the country to go into an exile which would change their lives forever. This is where La nit més freda begins, the moral and emotional night that goes from the fall of the republican Catalonia to exile and, finally, the physical and emotional return to the lost patria. Antoni Rovira i Virgili, Joan Oliver, Carles Riba and Mercè Rodoreda will give a voice to all those who shared this collective experience. In La nit més freda, Teresa Vilardell takes inspiration from the work of these four intellectuals, marked by exile, and from diverse material, to evoke the events that are recalled and belong to the memory of a whole people.
